Joseph Mwangi, BioChemistry Masters' Candidate

About

Joseph Mwangi

Joseph Mwangi is a master's student in chemistry and biochemistry at UNCG. Upon completing his undergraduate studies in Chemistry (major) and Physics (minor) at Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya, he taught math, chemistry, and physics in Muranga, Kenya. He has worked in Arizona and Maryland, and has extensive experience in the development of high-school chemistry curricula. He was awarded a Moubukagkusho scholarship at Kobe University, Hyogo, Japan in 2010.

Research Interests

His UNCG research involves solving specific analytical challenges in measuring biomarkers and developing new analytical methods. The analysis of variations in the human genome, transcriptome, and/or proteome will be part of an attempt to understand how limiting factors in biological systems are monitored. He will explore the use of different analytical techniques, including fluorescence spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
